The big pictureApproximately 7.3 billion people live on our planet. No matter on which continent we live, every day we need to eat and drink, be clothed, have a roof on top of us and so much more. For all of this, of course, we need to pay and in order to do that, we need money. If we have money, then we have security. Money can give us so much and even fulfil our dreams.
Money is also power! For precisely this reason, central banks keep a keen eye on money and punish those, whose actions may endanger the financial system as it is. Everything would be fine, if we could trust this system.
But can we? Can we really trust banks after the financial crisis of 2008, when because of the actions of the directors of these banks, the global financial system was on the verge of a collapse? Can we trust those central banks, whose inaction caused the bankruptcy of thousands of enterprises and millions of people all over the world? Luckily for politicians and bankers, people usually have short memories, which allow them to go on the same way, as they always do, and help cover up their inaction with the constant printing of more money.
As we know, on 22th January 2015, the European Central Bank, who has been known to be rather conservative, made a historical decision to basically print 1.14 trillion Euros in 19 months, in order to delay making economically important decisions, while also decreasing the value of all of our money. Thus, the next financial crisis, which is bound to be more serious than the last one, is just a matter of time.
According to the World Bank, approximately 40% of the adults all over the world, which is roughly 2 billion people, don’t have a bank account. This means that they lack the slightest chance of developing and get a loan to improve their living quality, may it be the purchase of a stronger horse, a better wagon or a device. If people lack the possibility to develop, then they think in a short perspective and live day-by-day, while burdening the environment and becoming the possible subject of human trafficking, prostitution and illegal economic activities. Did you know that all of those bad things mostly take place in areas, where there is no access to banking?
